The Hadron Has Launched, and Stargate Atlantis Is Approved!
Our Stargate Atlantis novel, BRIMSTONE, has been approved by MGM and the editors / powers that be. Trish and I will shortly be signing the papers and putting words in order on this project, and I’m psyched. I love the show - and in particular, I love the character of the physicist, Rodney, who we get to have some serious fun with in this one. We werne’t a hundred percent certain when we first started watching the show, but we’re hooked, and last night I made the mistake of watching part of an SG1 episode…it looked pretty good…

More information on the novel will appear as we progress, but for the moment, our place in the Stargate Universe is established. All we have to do is dial the right coordinates into the gate and … um… well, we have to write the book, anyway…
Meanwhile, back in Europe, the Large Hadron Collider successfully sent a stream of protons down its length. Don’t confuse this with not creating black holes or blowing up the earth - they didn’t smash anything with it yet. All atoms are intact. Still…the fun begins. Steven Hawkins has been $100 that they will not find their “God Particle” that gives everything in the universe mass - but I think for him it’s just wishful thinking. He’d rather have the fun of starting from scratch with something unexpected…
I’m good either way. It’s a huge step forward for science, and has actually managed to bump the silver asian carp, Britney and Paris off the top of the search engines for a day or two. Maybe it will be good fodder for an episode of BIG BANG THEORY this year.
Last note. Watched FRINGE last night, and enjoyed it immensely. Great in jokes for those of us who remember the 1960s and all the fear of drug manipulation, mind control, and mad science. There is LSD, and a cow…how can it get better? I’ll tell you. A real live VISIBLE MAN and a deprivation chamber. We’ll be on board for this one as long as it lasts.

I quite enjoyed FRINGE as well. And the cow was terrific, especially during the Sponge Bob scene.

I think the show has a great ‘feel’ to it…sort of a cross between Special Unit 2 (which we mourned the loss of) and The X Files - which we lived and breathed….so to speak.

Mazel tov on the SGA book. Rodney FTW! They wouldn’t be starting to smash stuff on, say, 12/21/12, would they? Inquiring Mayans want to know.

Congrats on the SGA book. The talked a bit about Hadron last night on the news, but it was less than a minute or so segment before they went on to the important stuff like lipstick on pigs…

Thanks James…pretty happy with the Stargate… Mone=WIN
We do what we can. And yeah, it’s funny…first, the protest to keep the Hadron inactive didn’t come until AFTER 80 Billion dollars was spent. Yeah, I’m sure they’ll just shut it off… (dumbasses)
Then, when something potentially THIS BIG comes along, the media shies away - I guess smashed atoms aren’t “sexy” enough to report, even if they might create a black hole and swallow the earth. Now, give us a good close encounter…

I’ve actually watched The Big Bang Theory. I laughed.
