Tales of Dubioius Olympic Glory - Mephistopheles Doufis!
A few years back, when a ridiculous man jumped out of an Olympic crowd and tackled the guy who was running a marathon, the germ of an idea was planted. That year, as a joke, I started writing a story, sending out a bit in e-mail to my buddy Thomas Sullivan every day - and to a few select others. What came of that initial outing was the tale: The Bearer of Bad Shoes. It starred my questionably heroic protagonist, Mephistopheles Doufis. That story coincided with the last Summer Olympics.
When the winter Olympics rolled around, I wrote a second tale of this young athlete from the non-extant country of Rozinia: Mephistopheles Doufis and the Final Flight of Hawk, the Lugee. There is a third tale, not quite done: Mephistopheles Doufis and the Mi
sty Water Colored Memoir…but that one has to be completed before it sees the light of day. With the impending Olympics, I think its time has probably come.
In any case, Rozinia deserved its own space on my website, and Mephistopheles Doufis remains my gift to you all…Read, enjoy, comment if you are so inclined. Maybe this time around we could sell Rozinian T-shirts…I designed a flag!
Onward!
