The Virtual Voice of David Niall Wilson

Sins of the Sirens

I’ve just posted my sort of lengthy review of the volume SINS OF THE SIRENS - a book put together by John Everson that contains short stories by four of the most talented ladies of darkness working today:  sirens_180.jpgLoren Rhoads, Maria Alexander, Mehitobel Wilson, and Christa Faust.  This book is available in an attractive trade paperback (if you want to ignore my opinions and just order it, click the cover art).

This book follows in the footsteps of another multi-author collection I read recently, “Five Strokes to Midnight,” featuring not a single story by many authors, but several stories by only a few.  All of the works in this book have a dark, erotic intensity that sets them apart.  There are some new stories, and some reprints, and they flow neatly from one to the next, fitting together very well.  This is a fine collection, and should not be missed - particularly if you have a love for the darkly erotic.  It was fiction in this collection that inspired my last essay on the Valence of Fiction - because these authors write with authority.  They have lived and loved in places and states that allow them to reach even further out without losing that thread of believability that gives all true horror its power.

Look for interviews with all three of these fascinating authors here soon.

So go already - read the review - buy the book!
