Collections and novels and stories, oh my! 2008 Update
Okay, this has started out as a pretty darned good year. I’ve avoided using this journal as just an “author, plug thyself” spot. I hope you’re all enjoying the interviews, reviews, and essays on writing and other things, and that’s not going to change, but I think today I have gathered enough new good news that it’s time to give an update on the next year or so.
I learned today that Bad Moon Books has decided to issue “The Not Quite Right Reverend Cletus J. Diggs & The Currently Accepted Habits of Nature” as a limited edition HC in July. This is exciting to me, because it’s the first full-length story about Cletus, and because the one-of-a-kind promotional edition we’re going to make will be freaking impossible to beat. I can almost guarantee you that even if you find it disturbing, you will want it. There will only be one…I doubt I’ll even find the necessary…THINGS…to do it again. In a sentence, it might be the first time you hear “That book bites,” and “I WANT it” in the same sentence.
On a different note, I received my contract from Full Moon Press for my novel, MAELSTROM. I don’t have an actual publication date for it, but the contract calls for within a year of signing, which is imminent. This is a novel I love. I had a small group of pre-readers go through it and help me bring it up to date, and it was universally loved, so I have high hopes for this. There is no artist assigned, or publication date yet…but stay tuned.
This summer, my new collection, “Ennui & Other States of Madness” will be issued by Dark Regions Press. The cover and interior art on that one is by Don Paresi, and once I get in the introduction from bestselling author Brian Hodge, that one will go in for final design. It includes a very long new piece…a novella titled “The Preacher’s Marsh,” that I’m very proud of.
Then, very early 2009 comes Vintage Soul, Book I of the DeChance Chronicles. This will be out in trade HC from Five Star books, and in limited and deluxe editions form Bad Moon Books. Again, the artist is Don Paresi.
Put all that together with the three Stoker nominations in a single year, and you can imagine it’s helping my fevered, flu-ridden state immensely. Another thing to note is that there is the possibility that the Stokers may be podcast this year…I’ll keep you posted on that too…
Until next time,
–DNW

Not shabby. Not shabby at all. Well, the flu, that’s shabby, but the rest of it is pretty much not.

Thanks man…it’s a pretty ODD feeling, actually. Any idea what the best method of sewing Caiman Skin and a leather Spine together would be? (lol)

I like success stories.
We need heroes.

That’s fantastic, Dave. I can see where such news would put a smile on even the most flu-ridden face.
Get well soon so you can dance a little jig in celebration of your accomplishments.

Thanks Terry.
Thanks James.
Still not a hundred percent. I’m at work..sort of weak, and have NO voice, so can’t even talk about the good stuff yet (lol)…this was one kick-butt flu.
