My Chargers Got Robbed, but How About ZAMBRANO? No Hitter!

bigz.jpg

This weekend was not great for me, sports wise.  My San Diego Chargers have lost two straight.  They don’t seem to be able to start a game well, and though they end amazingly well, it’s only up to the last minut of play - then something bad happens.  Add to that the horrifyingly bad fumble fiasco by the officials, and frustrated barely covers how I feel.  I’ve been a San Diego fan since the earl 1980s, and it really IS our turn, you know?

But forget that.  Let’s talk CUBS.  Let’s talk an entire lifetime of never seeing your team go to the big show.  Now they are seven games up on their nearest competition for the pennant, and Carlos Zambrano, coming b ack off some iffy performances and tendinitis, steps into the game last night throwing 98 mile per hour smokers  - and throws the first Cubs no-hitter since 1972:

“Carlos Zambrano’s stuff was electrifying vs. the Astros, and the Chicago ace made it count, tossing his first career no-hitter — and the first by a Cub since ‘72 — while fanning 10 in a game played at Miller Park because of Hurricane Ike.”  ==> Read the entire story!

This is the first time in recent memory going into September that I was more excited about baseball than football….

Not sure what that means for the universe, but thank you Big Z. - you made my night, saved my “good thoughts” from evaporating in a cloud of Charger-induced anger.  You made baseball fun again!
