Mind Garage - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Petition
Many of you will remember how I met Larry McLurg, front man of the 1960s rock sensation The Mind Garage when he bought a copy of one of his albums from me on eBay. I have worked with him on a possible book project that I still hope to finish one day titled “Something Funny Happened on the Way to Woodstock,” but for now I’d like to help with this.
One of their biggest contributions to rock music was The Electric Liturgy, which they performed in some of the biggest Cathedrals in New York and other cities - it was released on an album by RCA as weell. Basically, it was a Mass performed through rock music. These guys were arguably the first influential Christian Rock band - as well as having some real chops musically. The link below is to a petition I hope you’ll sign to try and get them a very deserved niche in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They had two RCA albums, The Mind Garage, and Mind Garage, Again - both out in the late 1960s. Their biggest pop hit was a song called Asphalt Mother - which is apparently not Larry’s current favorite. IF you visit their website by clicking the image of the band from 1968 - you can read their stories, see pictures, original posters, and listen to the music…it’s all about the music.
Now, go sign the freaking petition man!
