Memory Loss to be Forgotten? Smart Switch Found?
Thanks to Gerry Canavan’s blog, which I found perusing MetaxuCafe randomly, I found this link to an article explaining how medical science works. They were trying to help an obese man by suppressing his desire to eat through deep brain stimulation. Instead, they hit a slightly different spot, and he remembered something in detail from thirty years in the past. Not only that, but his cognitive / learning ability increased dramatically when that area of his brain was stimulated. Apparently they are hopeful that this process could help Alzheimer’s patients recover lost bits of their lives…I love science, particularly accidental science.

oh, that is amazing. Think of the possibilities. If it can increase cognitive/learning ability, it can be used to help all of those unfortunate “slow” people in the world. I mean the possibilities are endless…

Yeah, and what about the possibility of fixing the communications glitch between “savants” and reality? It might be nothing…but if it’s SOMETHING…man…

Yeah, that sounds very promising. But, I want to hear more about the deep *bran* stimulation for losing weight. Sounds like it could involve some serious sit-down time

(Sigh) Fixed. Maybe I need some stimulation myself…I write a single paragraph and manage a typo…
