First Vintage Soul Review is In..

VintageSoulFrontsmKurt Criscione has made good use of his review ARC of Vintage Soul to provide the very first review – available on his site and on Barnes & Noble. This book can be pre-ordered through me between now and December 1st at a good discount if you follow me on Twitter, participate in Nanowrimo, or follow me on Facebook. Pre-order before Nanowrimo in November, and you will be entered into a drawing for a shot at being a character in “Heart of a Dragon,” book II in the series.

“David Niall Wilson introduces us to a world of Darkness… vampires are real, integrated into society, magic is real and has its mores and rules. When a centuries old Vampire is kidnapped from her home, for the purposes of fulfilling a forbidden and vile ritual, her lover turns to DeChance, a human wizard, book collector, and oft times private investigator.

This book book has no “Fat”, it’s lean and quick to the punch. Once the kidnapping hits it just rolls forward with a force and drive all its own. We have a ‘whodunit’… a villian who has intricately planned every step and who’s crimes only start with the kidnapping. At every step he has thought ahead and planned. The book runs at a quick pace and on a good rainy day you can probably finish it in one or two sittings. The characters are all interesting and multifaceted, and since this is a planned multi-volume series there are a ton of threads for new stories, new facets, and even more character growth.”

Vintage Soul Write Up by Emmy Award Winner!

When the ITW journalist assigned to me to write up “Vintage Soul” for THE BIG THRILL – the monthly newsletter of the International Thriller Writers, I had no idea what I was in for.  I did this job once, long ago, writing bits and blurbs on authors and upcoming books, and I figured I’d be assigned to some schlep like me.  Much to my surprise, I found that the articles are now much longer and more comprehensive, and the lady assigned to interview me and do the write-up was enthusiastic and meticulous. Still, I didn’t have the presence of mind to click the link on her name and find out who it was, a misstep that I have, I assure you, rectified.

I introduce you to Author, journalist, and a very nice lady : Paula Tutman

Not only is she a very talented, very cool lady, she has some very good things to say about my novel:

Okay, I get it.  Much of the world seems to love vampires these days.  But David Niall Wilson will tell you, Vintage Soul is not a vampire novel any more than it’s a story about washed up Motown divas.  His newest novel just happens to have vampires as the victims.  And that’s what makes it so much fun.

Rather than the usual suspects of cops and robbers or good guys and bad guys, this supernatural whodunit takes the reader into the unfamiliar territory of the mystical and into a world many could never imagine–the shared world of the living and the undead.  And a compelling cast of wizards, magicians, and yes, vampires will solve the mystery.
