Antique Jack-the-Ripper Lantern - Ennui & Other Statates of Madness
The contest continues, and so does my work on the one-of-a-kind prize edition of ENNUI & OTHER STATES OF MADNESS. I created a tray case, of sorts, from a fancy old candy box - some felt - etc. It’s not great, and will probably not stand the test of time quite as well as the leather-bound, hand-sewn book (I made that too…) - but it makes a nice display. On the cover I hand-scribed a copy of an original letter from Jack the Ripper to the police.

The bullseye lantern (also included) is authentic. It dates from around the time of the Ripper murders, and could well have been carried by a Bobby on the street at the time of the murders…I bought it for research on the title story - ENNUI - which is a sort of nod to Patricia Cornwell and her theory that Walter Sickert was Jack the RIpper (though — Patricia — far from CASE CLOSED) Also included in this edition are some illustrations (rough, simple illustrations) that were going to be worked up into detailed art…and ended up being removed due to page length…this is a huge book. This edition comes in over 360 pages.
Anyway, wanted to show off the new pictures. You can PRE-ORDER NOW AND ENTER THE CONTEST.
