Amazon.com now trying to “own” POD publishing?

I have to say, this one caught me by surprise.  It doesn’t really directly affect me, but still…what a bunch of ASSHATS!  What are they thinking?

In short, Amazon is turning off the BUY buttons  on all POD published books not published through Amazon / Book Surge.  If you don’t see this as a big deal…check out this article:

    This is a disturbing turn of events, but I’ll be interested to see what the fallout of the action is.

    My publisher uses Createspace (Also, a Amazon owned company) to create its print books, so there is no fear of having our BUY buttons disabled, but for the small presses that uses, say LULU for their POD print copies, this could be a crushing blow…
