A Lot of Beginnings and Nothing Complete
I will probably finish HOMEPLACE by Elizabeth Massie tonight…so soon there will be a review (and hopefully an update on her five question interview, which took place a long time ago).
I have an update on Thomas Sullivan’s interview, and that will go live any time now as well, but I want to dig out my reviews of his books, and get a few more details nailed down on the interview page itself before I post it live … so again, nothing.
I started an illustration for one of my own upcoming books last night…or a preliminary sketch for one. We’ll see how that goes. I also purchased an old used leather jacket for $1.00 - which means I’ll be started on the next one-of-a-kind edition soon…and the promotion will become a reality. I always dread these projects until I’m actually “engaged” - soon I will be over that hump and things will be flying.
This weekend was spent trying to rectify the uncelebrated birthdays that have gone weeks now due to my own flu, and that of my family. We failed in many aspects of celebrating, and succeeded in others. The boy is learning more on his guitar…in fact, all three of the boys are doing this…which has inspired me to do the same. We’ll see where that goes.
All-in-all, though, I’m nearly healthy - still have nose problems, but the voice is nearly back. I will be writing again as of tonight…the world shall tilt BACK onto its proper axis. I decree it!
For your reading pleasure, I’ve been trying to write a short short for each of the many emoticons on the Unofficial Brian Keene board…I posted a new one today:
“The NecronomIcon #16 - shocked -
He seemed like such a nice boy. His hair was trimmed, his clothing was clean. He took his trash out without fail on the evening before the trucks came, and he smiled and waved when he saw her on her porch, rocking and watching the streets. She always nodded at him … she never let on what she knew. —==>>READ THE REST
Until later…

You and I both have taken a long time to get over this crud. I went to the doctor again this afternoon (second visit) because this damned deep cough won’t go away. Evidently post-infection inflammation of the trachea. Caused by coughing from the respiratory bug — which causes you to cough more — which inflames the trachea more. Got some high-powered crap (prednisone, some pills whose name I can’t pronounce, and some spiked cough syrup) to try to boot it out once and for all. Otherwise, I feel fine.
Stupid ass me, though. I drank bourbon tonight, and that seems to have pretty much whooped it. I shoulda been on the bourbon regimen much sooner.
Illustration, eh? I’ll be interested to see what kind of scribble you can scribble.
I’m starting to put together notes for a new novel. I can’t help myself.
